Want to learn more about urban foraging? This timeline will give you an idea of when urban foraging came into popularity.
You’ll learn more about the different resources urban foragers use to get started too, with books like “Urban Foraging” by David Craft and the website Falling fruit, foragers just starting out have many resources to help them on their journey.
One of the most recent stories, “Harvesting a Wild Lunch With A Master Forager,” published by NPR on Oct. 13, 2017, was the inspiration for my own investigation into urban foraging in my own city, Detroit.
The story follows a “master forager” who makes a lunch using common plants like cat tails, showing both the foraging and preparation of foraged materials.
